UPDATES. The first Scottish-Polish Society was founded here in the s. During the second world war, the British Council organised a Polish house to help the Polish community socially and educationally. Soon there were homes, hostels, schools, libraries and even a Polish medical faculty at the University of Edinburgh to cater for the needs of Polish soldiers and their families.

A few days later, the 10th Mounted Rifles presented to the Society some 50 books about Poland in English. On 27th October, a “Halloween Party” was organised by the branch – Scottish folk traditions were similar to the Polish “Andrzejki”.

On 8th January, a dance at the Scottish-Polish Society organised in the Polish style. Dr Colin Kingsley was an honorary President of The Scottish Polish Cultural Association for 25 years.

Thanks to Dr Kingsley in January we organised a Young Talent Recital and seven youngsters of Polish descent, aged 13 to 20, sung and played various instruments in the filled to the brim room of the Edinburgh Society of Musicians.

History of the Scottish Polish Cultural Association. The Davidsons founded the Society around Mr Davidson (Edward Dawidowicz) - a Polish ex-serviceman - came to Scotland during the war.
